When I was starting to take photography seriously, a friend of mine taught me the importance of using contrast filters to really make a photo pop in the darkroom. Over the years, I've developed my on style, but the foundation of my black and white work is keeping extremely high contrast.
While driving through Western New York in January, I really came to appreciate the beauty of winter.Western New Yorkers squeeze every last drop of summer fun out of the relatively short season for watersports. This boat launch was shot using an antique medium format Zeiss Ikon.Trees will always mesmerize me photographically. I think it's nearly white sky peaking through the sharply opaque branches that draws my eye.This photo was taken with a point-and-shoot digital, but heavily edited to give a sense of motion to this Boston train station.
