Smilinradish

What makes a radish smile? Is it careful gardening? Is it binging the entire series of My Name is Earl? Maybe it's love. Yeah that's it. Love makes a radish smile.

However, the real story behind the Smilinradish name goes back to my freshman year at Georgia Tech. Back then, Linux wasn't the gorgeous, user-friendly testament to graphic design that it is now. On top of that, forget about installing it yourself. To ease the challenge, the Georgia Tech Linux Users Group offered twice yearly Linux InstallFests for Linux rookies. About halfway through the install, the bloke who was helping me install asked, "So, what do you want to name your computer?" It never occurred to me that computers had names because I'd never networked a computer before that, so it really hadn't occurred to me that I'd have to distinguish it with a name. For some reason, the first thing that popped into my head was "Smilinradish," and the name stuck. Two decades and at least eight incarnations later, that name's here to stay.

But now, there's more to the smilin' radish. That's the name of my LLC, a company I put together for my technology ventures. I am very close to the first release of an exciting app that will help Android users drive more safely. Stay tuned for more on that, but in the meantime, please enjoy some of my photography.

Incidentally, the one thing that I am not is a good radish farmer. Radishes planted in our yard are tiny and bitter, and that's nothing to smile about.
